Welcome to the 51st Annual Scientific Meeting of the

Australasian Division of the International Academy of Pathology

On behalf of the Australasian Division of the International Academy of Pathology, I am delighted to welcome you to our 51st Annual Scientific Meeting in Adelaide,

28–30 May 2027.

This year we have again aimed to build a program that is broad, practical and highly relevant to contemporary diagnostic pathology. We are introducing a substantial

program of brand-new short courses alongside our established sessions. A major addition for 2027 are Thursday pre-conference symposia, with parallel full-day

Liver and Renal Pathology sessions with the Hans Popper Hepatopathology Society and International Renal Pathology Society.

We are delighted to welcome our international invited speakers Professor Amy Chadburn, Professor Raul S. Gonzalez and Professor Anne Mills. Our Masterclasses will be presented by Professor Amy Chadburn and Professor Sonja Klebe, and the Vincent McGovern Memorial Lecture will be delivered by Professor Sandra O’Toole.

We will also hold the second IAP Charity Fun Run/Walk on Sunday morning. Following the success of the inaugural event in Brisbane, this year’s run will raise funds in

support of head and neck cancer. It is intended to remain an enjoyable way for delegates, families and supporters to come together while contributing to a cause directly connected to the patients and communities our profession serves.

I would like to sincerely thank our Companion Club convenors, short course and workshop organisers, invited speakers, abstract contributors and session chairs, and all

of the pathologists who generously give their time and expertise to developing and delivering the scientific program. Their contribution is fundamental to the quality and success of the meeting. I also thank our sponsors and exhibitors for their continued support of pathology education, and our IAP Board, Secretariat and conference team for the work involved in bringing the meeting together.

I hope IAP 2027 provides not only excellent educational content, but also the opportunity to connect and reconnect with colleagues, exchange ideas and return to practice

with useful knowledge that can be applied immediately.

I look forward to welcoming you to Adelaide.

Clinical Professor Catriona McKenzie

President

Australasian Division of the International Academy of Pathology
